summer, republican governor rick snyder of michigan signed a bill to expand the use of telemedicine in his state. his new law requires that insurance companies have to pay for treatment that you get via contact with a doctor through like a web cam or otherwise online. it's telemedicine. governor snyder was so excited to sign this thing. he said at the time, "telemedicine offers an incredible opportunity to easily provide health care to michigan's elderly, disabled, and rural communities. i applaud the legislature's initiative to use technology to save lives." the bill got unanimous support. governor snyder signed it with his big happy statement about how awesome this was going to be. he was so excited. yay, telemedicine. telemedicine, you are the future for michigan. you are saving lives. that was this summer. tonight that same governor snyder is poised to sign another law in michigan that would ban the use of telemedicine in that state, specifically for one type of medical care. it's the same type of medical care provided at clinics in michigan that governor snyder is poised to sin

who says it doesn't meet the test of balance. michigan governor rick snyder has vetoed a bill that would have allowed people to carry concealed weapon into a formerly gun-free zones like churches and schools. the michigan state legislature passed the law on thursday. but in the wake of friday's tragedy in newtown governor snyder has called for a more thorough review of the law. we need more thorough review of gun violence-related issues. he says the concealed carry bill needs to be looked at in a more comprehensive context. now this particular move is welcome news. however, "the huffington post" points out that snyder did find two other laws, one streamlines the process for buying handguns and the other gets rid of restrictions for rifle and shot gunn transactions between people in michigan and neighboring states. and florida governor rick scott insists though he complied with the law he's now going to look into the problems the state had during the past election. including the number of voting days being restricted

's a different story in the great lakes. it's a winter wonderland anywhere in the state of michigan. it snowed hard last night, northern indiana and much of the state of ohio right now is seeing snow. careful driving, interstate 70 going across the lower portions of the great lakes and the ohio valley. and the winds are gusting, too. we probably have a little bit of blowing and drifting snow in indiana, michigan and ohio. and again, those winds this morning around new york city could get as high as 60 miles per hour. the worst of it coming in the next three hours. so keep that in mind as you're driving on the roads or doing anything outdoors. as far as snowfall goes, over the next 24 to 48 hours, we're going to get lake-effect bands. we're also going to see snow on the backside of this big storm. western new york will get a good coating of snow between three to six inches in most locations. so the forecast over the next three days, today's the worst travel day by far, great lakes and the northeast. thankfully as we go through the weekend, it's a little chilly across the country, but the weathe

on acceleration. >> it's little bit of both. one of those survey, university of michigan, people are more confident about employment prospects than at any point since 1984. these judge people's change in feeling mono. you can't compare your feelings five years ago to today. it may be we look like we're feeling better but if you got someone in the room from 2008 they may feel worse. people are feeling more at ease. on the plus side the employment situation isn't getting better but it stopped getting worse. incomes are up a little bit. people have been saving for four years. they don't have nearly as much debt and rates are low. there's a lot of factors coming into this. the housing market is picking up. nothing like it was. but better than it has been in recent memory. there's a lot of reasons why people in general are feeling better which doesn't mean there aren't 20, 30, 40 million people who are doing poorly. >> here's the $6 million question. here we have a situation where most americans are more optimistic, businesses are more pessimistic inverse to the last couple of years when busin

michigan, ohio going towards tomorrow. we will be watching this storm to trek eastward. two to four inches on top of what's on the ground in pennsylvania. this storm is also going to bring substantial snowfall across new england once again. you can see the legend showing us we're anticipating six inches of snow through the mountains into virginia, but then by the time we get to sunday, look at this, another pocket of heavy snow in central connecticut according to computer models as well as rhode island and the northfork of long island. that's what is interesting about long island, you will get snow in one part, 11 miles to the south it will be rain. many people are traveling this weekend that took the entire week off, they were on vacation. anticipating more snowfall for parts of new england. the storm setup for today, heavy rain through the mid south. snow popping up in the heartland again. again, this is an area that already saw plenty of snow this week. the colder air is plummeting down with temperatures for highs only in the 20s in kansas city and minneapolis, warming back up along the
